April
2005: Nuthouse
was mentioned in an issue of Velocity Weekly. You can read
the whole story here.
February
2005: The Nuthouse 2.0 site is finally up and running.
Complete with new links, including my cafepress
site with t-shirts, mugs, etc. I have many links to comic
related sites down the right side along with other sites which
content inspires me. Contact me about link swapping if you
are so inclined. Down the left side are links of local interest,
familiar to those of you within earshot and for those who
are not, a nice way to get to know the area which inspires
Nuthouse.
Of possible
interest, I have begun to ink the strip on the computer rather
than the traditional way. Long-term this should help me save
time although until I get used to it, it will take about as
much time if not a little longer in some cases. I hope this
will help me insure better line quality as well as save time
which could be used for things like backgrounds and larger
(Sunday sized) strips. Maybe I'll even have more time to color
the strips.
Here are
some of the steps involved:
This
is a panel drawn in pencil and then scanned into Photoshop.
Here's the same panel that has been changed from pencil grey
to non-photo blue (well blue anyway). This helps me to see
what I'm drawing over when I lay the blacks down in Illustrator.

Now you
can see that the panel is indeed a vector image. This is an
outline view in Illustrator complete with the word balloon
and text.

And here
is the panel in its completed form.
